David Hawkins, from Iowa, probably has more John Deere tractors than anyone, except the John Deere company themselves. Starting with his father’s 1929 model “D” John Deere David and his brother Richard began collecting the tractors and put their first show together in 1983 with a collection arranged by his silo. Continuing the collection after his brother died his annual show now showcases 110 tractors and 100 implements all sporting the famous John Deere green.
The show is a family affair with decals put on by his wife Judy and signs created by his daughter. His son, Curt helps paint the tractors and his grandson Alex helps with refurbishing. Alex has started his own collection with six tractors so far.
